Lower School Learning Specialist
Abraham Joshua Heschel School seeks a lower school (Grades 1-5) learning specialist for beginning in the fall of 2020.

Master’s degree in special education, learning disabilities, or related field

Training in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, PAF, or similar programs

Experience administering a variety of assessments to track and support student growth, including Fountas & Pinnell

At least five years teaching experience as a learning specialist with a focus on attaining early literacy skills

A strong knowledge base in the area of learning differences, especially dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, as well as a deep knowledge base regarding ADHD
The learning specialist will:

Provide small group and one-on-one literacy remediation to students in first through fifth grade, using a pull out/push in model

Partner with teachers, families, and outside specialists regarding the needs and progress of students

Collaborate with teachers to modify curriculum and develop strategies to meet the needs of a range of learners

Participate in parent conferences and write individual progress reports

High School Hebrew Teacher
Abraham Joshua Heschel School is seeking a full-time Hebrew teacher for grades 9-12 for the 2020-21 school year. Heschel Fellows
The Abraham Joshua Heschel School is seeking to hire a cohort of Heschel Fellows to meet our unusual staffing needs in the 2020-2021 school year. Heschel Fellows will primarily assist and support Early Childhood and Lower School divisions, allowing Heschel to meet our students’ and teachers’ needs in light of our smaller class sizes created to minimize the risk of spreading Covid-19. Fellows will rotate into classrooms to provide teachers with planning time and breaks, substitute for faculty absences, and assist with arrival, dismissal, and hallway monitoring.
Fellows will have excellent opportunities for learning, mentorship, exploration, and growth in a supportive, pluralistic Jewish community. Heschel Fellows will be supervised by Division Heads and participate in all faculty professional development.
Heschel Fellows will receive a stipend of $35,000 to work -- in-person or, if need be, remotely.
